You don’t have to eat yogurt to get good bacteria started in the digestive tract. In our culture, we have lost the art of eating fermented foods. In Korea, for example, they eat a fermented product called kimchi. Kimchi is fermented cabbage. If I don’t have time to make my own, I just pick it up in the refrigerated section of my grocery store where they keep the tofu wraps. It’s usually made with chili peppers to give it a nice spicy taste.
Our digestive tract needs good bacteria to control any overgrowth of yeast, digest our food, and help with bloating. Most of our diets contains too much sugar, alcohol and processed foods (white flour and/or pasta) which destroy the healthy bacteria called lactobacilli. One way to add more good bacteria is by eating a big spoonful of homemade sauerkraut at mealtimes. Would you like to make it yourself? It’s easy!
