The Importance of Workout Schedules & Routines

I wanted to take a break this week from ripping on my fellow meatheads and go over routines and schedules. It may seem boring, I know, but is so important if you plan on going from your little man status to a bodybuilder.
I get asked all the time, “What do you do in the gym?” That question is usually followed by either, “I used to look like you, 20 years ago” or “How can I look like you by tomorrow?” Really? Did you ever really look like a bodybuilder much less like me (by the way, I’m small potatoes compared to my IFBB friends!). I also hope you all know you cannot look like this tomorrow. It has taken me almost 20 years to build my physique.
When I first started I was an athlete and started lifting in High School. Yes, we had weight training classes in High School back in the old days and no, the weights were not made of wood!
So, what is the secret to my success? CONSISTENCY! There is no one specific routine that will get you to your goals. There is no secret supplement or diet either. Consistently training 4-5 days a week, eating all your proper meals every day, taking your supplements every day and sleeping at least 7-8 hours a night will yield the results you want. No magic pills, no magic exercises and definitely no magic foods!
Personally I train five times per week which suits me best but you can go at least four times per week if that is all your schedule permits.
Again, be consistent and go your allocated days every week, plan and prepare your meals ahead of time and pack your supplements for the day. If you only put in half the effort, you will get half the results. I guess I’m really old school because I just believe in plain old hard work and being consistent!
