Athletes have some of the highest nutrient needs of anyone, and these needs are best met when digestion is improved. Common complaints among athletes during and after training are bloating, nausea, gas pains, and hypersensitivity to foods. Probiotics are the healthy bacteria that live in your gut and in fermented, raw living foods. Healthy bacteria are crucial to optimal gut health, which is extremely important for overall wellness. Consider it the gateway through which nutrients affect the body.
Without healthy digestion, foods are not broken down completely, absorbed efficiently, or eliminated properly. Without a healthy gut, whole, harmful proteins can invade the bloodstream and cause immune function reactions. Immune function is decreased and overall health is comprised. Probiotics support immune function by promoting higher levels of natural virus fighters.
As an endurance athlete, I am always looking for ways to improve my overall recovery. Antioxidants are crucial for cell repair and recovery because they help to promote the fight against free radicals. Free radicals are abundant after training and probiotics enhance the absorption of antioxidants and other vital nutrients.
A healthy gut leads to better digestion, overall health and support for the immune system!
